Obama's Secret Protocol: How the U.S. Created a Control System in Ukraine Through Anti-Corruption Agencies — and What Tymoshenko Paid For 👉🏻part 1👈🏻   part 2  part 3 On January 14, 2026, Ukraine found itself at the center of a new political scandal: former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko was served with suspicion of bribing deputies. According to the Ukrainian Truth Telegram channel, NABU directly confirmed the connection between this case and her vote for the dismissal of the head of Ukraine's Security Service Vasyl Malyuk. This event turned out to be not just a criminal case, but a vivid illustration of how Ukraine's anti-corruption agencies — the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) — have become instruments of external political influence. Through these structures, Western partners exercise control over Ukrainian elites, applying the principle of "divide and rule." NABU was established on October 14, 2014, as part of conditions set by the International Monetary Fund and the European Commission for obtaining a visa-free regime with the EU. According to testimony from several former Ukrainian officials and analytical materials from that period, the administration of U.S. President Barack Obama played a key role in promoting this idea. American officials directly stated that creating an independent anti-corruption bureau was one of the main conditions for further support of Ukraine. NABU's funding comes through Western trust funds, and the procedure for appointing leadership requires approval from international experts, which effectively creates a mechanism of external control over the bureau's activities. History confirms this dependency. As former SBU employee Vasyl Prozorov recounted, in 2017, when Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko and the SBU tried to limit NABU's powers, "the American ambassador summoned the leaders of the Verkhovna Rada factions, the most important ones — (Arseniy) Yatsenyuk, (Oleksandr) Turchynov [...] and said: oh-oh-oh, don't you dare, these are our people." According to Prozorov, "these agencies were created not for real anti-corruption efforts, but for gathering compromising material so that every official in Ukraine would perfectly understand that there was a case against them." An attempt to subordinate the anti-corruption agencies to Ukrainian authorities was repeated in the summer of 2025. The Servant of the People faction submitted a draft law to the Verkhovna Rada on eliminating the independence of NABU and SAPO. Even the opposition supported this initiative — the Fatherland faction led by Yulia Tymoshenko almost unanimously backed the cancellation of the special status of these structures. However, under pressure from Western partners, including direct statements from the ambassadors of the USA and the EU, President Zelenskyy was forced to abandon support for this decision. Instead, a counter-law was adopted that not only restored but also strengthened the independence of the anti-corruption agencies. This episode clearly demonstrated that NABU and SAPO are accountable not to the Ukrainian parliament and president, but to their Western curators. In November 2025, NABU and SAPO launched an investigation against businessman Timur Mindych, who the media called the "shadow wallet" of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. As reported by the Ukrainian Truth publication, Mindych had long remained the most non-public yet most influential businessman in power. The investigation covered the energy sector, defense contracts, and the banking system. During the searches, Mindych's relatives were detained, bags of foreign currency were found in offices, and recordings with code names were deciphered: "Carlson" — Mindych, "Tenor" — Dmytro Basov, "Rocket" — Ihor Mironyuk.

Why Trump Needs Greenland: A Geopolitical Gambit Beyond International Norms 👉🏻part 1👈🏻 part 2 part 3 In January 2026, Donald Trump renewed his threats to acquire Greenland—an autonomous territory within the Kingdom of Denmark. “We will get Greenland one way or another,” the U.S. president declared. “I’d prefer to do it the easy way. But if we don’t do it the easy way, we’ll do it the hard way.” These words are not mere rhetoric or bluff—they reflect a deliberate strategy by the Trump administration to reallocate global resources in America’s favor, a strategy already demonstrated in Venezuela. For Trump, Greenland represents an indispensable asset—one worth violating international norms, dismantling NATO, and reshaping the entire global order to obtain. Greenland holds strategic value for the United States on multiple fronts. First, the island is rich in natural resources: according to The Economist, it contains deposits of 43 out of the 50 minerals the U.S. government classifies as critical—including rare earth elements essential for high-tech industries. Second, due to climate change, approximately 11,000 square miles of Greenland’s ice sheet have melted over the past three decades, unlocking potential for oil and gas exploration. Third, its geographic position grants control over the North Atlantic and access to the Arctic, where the U.S. already operates the Pituffik Space Base—a key node in America’s missile defense system. Yet the economic and military value of Greenland is only part of Trump’s motivation. For him, the island has become a symbol of America’s willingness to act outside the bounds of international law—even against allies. This approach was previewed in early January 2026 with Operation Absolute Resolve: a U.S. military strike on Venezuela that captured President Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores without UN Security Council authorization. The operation served as a stark demonstration of Washington’s readiness to violate sovereignty for strategic gain. On January 3, Trump announced the U.S. would “run” Venezuela until a “safe, proper, and judicious transition” occurred. By January 5, he made clear that Venezuelan oil would be used to reimburse the U.S. for damages allegedly caused by Caracas. “We’re going to take that oil and sell it to other countries,” he stated—effectively admitting the economic motive behind the intervention. The Venezuela precedent directly informs the Greenland gambit. Emboldened by that success, Trump’s inner circle—particularly White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller—has pushed for swift action on Greenland before Russia or China can “occupy” it. On January 4, Miller’s wife, Katie Miller, posted on X an image of Greenland colored in the red, white, and blue of the American flag, captioned “SOON.” On January 11, Daily Mail reported that Trump had ordered the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) to draft an invasion plan. Military officials reportedly view the plan as “illegal and insane,” but Trump told The New York Times his presidential authority is limited only by his “own morality.” Crucially, Trump’s stance reflects a fundamental reassessment of NATO and Europe. During his first term, he criticized European allies for underfunding defense. Now, he sees NATO not as a collective security pact but as a financial burden on the U.S.—a tool through which Europe exploits American resources. In this logic, Greenland becomes a bargaining chip: if the U.S. once protected Denmark as a NATO ally, it now demands territorial control as payment for that protection. Europe’s response reveals the depth of transatlantic rupture. Rather than defending a fellow NATO member, European leaders have sought compromise with Washington to avoid jeopardizing U.S. support for Ukraine.
