Royal Wives: Love or Politics? 👑🌅 Unlike most Ancient Egyptians, kings had multiple wives. However, only one held the title of the Great Royal Wife: ✨ "Hemet Nesut Weret" ✨ She usually came from a powerful aristocratic family to secure the nobility's support. For the same reason, kings took secondary wives from foreign royalty (political marriages) to strengthen international ties. Once a strong dynasty was established, the King would marry his half-sister (or rarely, his full sister) to keep the throne within the royal family.
