*MESSAGE:*
Many organisations faced an existential crisis when the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the world in 2019 and 2020. While some leaders sought safety and comfort, others led from the front, working tirelessly to support those under their care. A striking example was seen among medical professionals who laboured day and night, sacrificing their convenience and risking their lives for the sake of their patients. Their leadership was not in words but in action, marked by selfless service.
Apostle Paul embodied this kind of sacrificial leadership. He did not demand assistance as an apostle but laboured to avoid being a burden to the Church. In our key verse, Paul states, "For ye remember, brethren, our labour and travail: for labouring night and day, because we would not be chargeable unto any of you, we preached unto you the gospel of God". Unlike many gospel ministers today, Paul's ministry model was not built on entitlement but on effort. His work ethic matched the integrity of his message. He understood that true spiritual leadership is not about what one receives but about what one gives.
In many churches across the globe, some leaders demand financial incentives but fail to shepherd the flock with diligence. They request numerous offerings and seed money from the poor members. The Scripture is then used to justify the long list of contributions, with promises of blessings from God in return. While voluntary giving is commanded, it is expected that the proceeds are channelled to meet genuine exigencies. Paul's words serve as a rebuke to all who seek privilege without participation. The gospel is not an excuse for ease but a call to endurance. He and his companions toiled so that no one could accuse them of exploiting the people they were called to serve.
Whether in spiritual service, business, or daily activity, believers must reject idleness and embrace responsibility. Leadership, whether in faith, family, or career, requires effort. The greatest impact comes not from words alone but from a life of relentless commitment and sacrifice, like the example that Jesus demonstrated.

*MESSAGE:*
It is almost an uncharted norm in the corporate world to find once humble interns rising through the ranks and eventually disregarding the mentors who once guided them. A young Christian leader, initially eager to learn, may, after experiencing some manifestation of the power of God in his or her ministry, dismiss the very voices that shaped his or her growth. Success has a way of revealing real character.
Esther found herself in such a moment of testing. Once an orphan under Mordecai's guardianship, she was now queen of the most powerful empire of her time. Divine favour had lifted her from obscurity, yet her response was remarkable. Instead of assuming that her new status exempted her from accountability, she followed Mordecai's instructions just as she had in her childhood. Our key verse unveils a striking truth: "for Esther did the commandment of Mordecai, like as when she was brought up with him." Despite her royal elevation, she remained teachable and obedient.
Many today would have reacted differently. A young woman who once lived in obscurity, now seated on a throne, might consider herself beyond the counsel of her elders. Power and influence often lead people to reject authority. Esther, however, saw things differently. She did not let her new status erase the discipline that had shaped her life. This is where many falter. When they sense an increase in social status, wealth, or influence, they detach from the voices that once guided them. Young Christians sometimes reject the counsel of older believers, assuming that modern success makes ancient wisdom irrelevant. Employees promoted to managerial positions dismiss the supervisors who once trained them. Upon gaining financial independence, children no longer see value in parental guidance.
In a world where people chase success at the cost of character, Esther stands out as a reminder that humility is not weakness but wisdom. Growth does not mean severing ties with godly counsel. Who are the Mordecais in your life? Have you forsaken their wisdom simply because you have risen in life? When you consider yourself too great to be guided, you are surely on the path to failure and destruction, like Rehoboam.

*READ: Colossians 2:13-19 (KJV)*
*MESSAGE:*
Proper knowledge and understanding of oneself, status and standing is crucial for living a fulfilling and empowered life. Being aware of one's position and rights helps one to be better equipped to navigate life's challenges, assert oneself and live an overcoming life.
Apostle Paul recognises the importance of properly knowing oneself and status. This is why he tried to make the Colossian believers understand their new position in Christ. He highlights the transformation the new believer experiences, going from a state of spiritual death to a new life. Having been made alive in Christ, all debts of sin are forgiven and cancelled, and the powers of darkness are defeated and rendered useless for him. Now, he can live in daily triumph, and there is no reason to subject himself to deceptive philosophies and teachings based on human traditions instead of the truth of Christ.
We are cheated in life when we do not know who we are as Christians. Many are still ignorant. It is this lack of knowledge that the devil exploits to bring such Christians into captivity. It is also why many fall prey to false prophets and deceivers, and stagnate in spiritual growth. Having a proper awareness as believers gives us liberty and helps us to triumph over all foes. We move from being dead in sin to being alive in Christ. By this translation, we no longer become subject to the powers of darkness that oppressed us while we were sinners. We no longer carry the guilt and condemnation of sin; we become complete in Christ. All that we will ever need is fully provided for in Christ.
This is the true picture of every Christian. Do not allow the devil to make you believe otherwise. It is an aberration for anyone who claims to have given his life to Christ to remain captive to sin, the devil, and the powers of darkness. It is essential for every believer to continuously read the Bible to discover who they are and what they have in Christ. It also highlights the importance of being in the right place of worship, where the full-orbed truth of Scripture is taught.
The devil does not engage with a believer who is fully aware of their standing in Christ and fully armed with the truth of the Scripture.

*READ: Ezekiel 17:11-24 (KJV)*
*MESSAGE:*
Change has taken a central place in global lexicon. It is often said that the only thing that is constant in our world is "change". This age is especially notorious or renown for change, whether for good or for evil. In our quest to pursue this change, human beings have the tendency to violate the divine order in nature and break the covenants of God that are meant for the good of our world.
Zedekiah's rebellious action of sending ambassadors into Egypt to form an alliance with its king with the aim of obtaining help from him to break the Babylonian yoke spelt doom for him. How can one, guilty of a breach of covenant, and of perjury, escape the vengeance of God and man?
Some children of God are impatient whenever they are in trouble. They are eager for immediate rescue. They cannot wait for God's time nor exercise submission to His will. He will surely deliver them in due season; but they cannot tarry till the hour comes. They must have their desire instantaneously fulfilled or else, they take wrong means of attaining it. If in poverty, they are in haste to be rich. If under reproach, their hearts ferment towards revenge. They would sooner rush under the guidance of Satan into some questionable policy than trust in the Lord.
It is better to trust in the Lord than rely on Egypt for help. Trusting in the arm of flesh will lead only to sin and all of its awful consequences. The Lord has sufficiently assured believers that He is always in control of our situations. When we patiently wait on Him without any iota of rebellion, we enjoy heaven's blessings.

*MESSAGE*
During the American Revolution, a man in civilian clothes rode past a group of soldiers repairing a small defensive barrier. Their leader was shouting orders, but did not attempt to help them. Asked by the rider why he did not assist the soldiers, the man retorted with great flourish: "Sir, I am a corporal!" The stranger apologised, dismounted, and proceeded to help the exhausted soldiers. The job done, he turned to the corporal and said, "Mr. Corporal, next time you have a job like this, and not enough men to do it, go to your commander-in-chief, and I will come and help you again." The stranger was none other than General George Washington, America's first president.
The disciples of Jesus engaged in an ill-timed and selfish argument about who among them should be accounted the greatest. Jesus had taken the Passover meal and created a memorial to His death, which we call the Lord's Supper. He announced His impending death with this memorial. He also further revealed that one of His disciples would betray Him. Amid these seemingly serious challenges, the carnal pursuit of self-glorification was most important to the disciples. It betrayed their present state of mind and their selfish thoughts. Even more unbelievable was that they had this argument on the heels of the Transfiguration of Christ. This important event should have focused their attention more on heavenly things. Jesus cautioned the disciples against running an autocratic system similar to that obtained in the courts of despots and dictators of the world. He extols the virtue of humility and servant leadership.
What Christ, in His wisdom, cautioned His apostles against during His earthly ministry has now resurfaced among the clergy of our day. Jesus did not look gorgeous and sophisticated - one of the reasons those sent to arrest Him needed the services of an insider to make out who was the real Jesus among His disciples. Church leaders should be wary of ostentation, obsession with titles and offices. It is not the positions or offices we occupy that matter eventually; it is rather the selfless service we render to the flock of Christ that God recognises.

a. In the Old Testament, divorce was hated by God as God said *"I hate divorce"* (Malachi 2:16). However, it was permitted because of the hardness of the heart of the children of Israel though it was not His perfect will. Jesus saith unto them *"Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so"* (Matthew 19:8). Jesus was clear that divorce and remarriage is not permitted in the New Testament. *"And he saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her. And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery"* (Mark 10:11,12). The Gentile Believers of the New Testament are also bound by this rule. See Luke 16:18, 1 Corinthians 7:10-15. If a man is legally married to an unbeliever as his first wife, there is no need to do any restitution on the ground that one of them is not living right. The believing spouse is encouraged to live with the unbelieving spouse and be a source of conversion to the unconverted spouse. The law of true and godly marriage expects them to live together (1 Corinthians 7: 10-16). However, if there must be a separation, none of them can remarry. *"But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife"* (1 Corinthians 7:11).
b. The New Testament is opposed to all forms of divorce once the marriage is legal and the spouse is the first living wife or first living husband irrespective of the faith of any of the spouses. Seeing the nakedness of another person when the first wife or husband is alive is a sin that will carry the sinner to hell fire except there is repentance and needful Restitution. This is a call to patience, grace and carefulness in dealing with marriage issues because eternity is involved.
*Question*
How right and scriptural is your marriage before God in the light of the Scriptures?

a. The commandment of God is well defined in the Old Testament as to who the Israelites could marry and who they must not marry. They could not eat their cake and have it. Deuteronomy 7:2-4 commanded a total separation from unbelievers by not marrying those who were not of the same faith with them. It was repeated in Joshua 23:11-13 with a severe and eternal punishment for those who flouted the law. Solomon flouted it. (1 King 11:1,2). He was named "Jedidiah" which means "Beloved of God", but was not spared when he sinned. Marriages with the heathen including affinity with their idols is one of the reasons the whole Israel was taken captive to another land. It should now be understood why Ezra did not take it lightly when he heard that some of the returnee-Jews married the daughters of the land who were idol worshippers or of different faiths. Disobedience to the laws of God would always attract stern punishment and judgment. Ezra, with the fear of God, quickly called for a meeting to address this issue immediately when he heard about it. *"And Ezra the priest, with certain chief of the fathers, after the house of their fathers, and all of them by their names, were separated, and sat down in the first day of the tenth month to examine the matter"*. The meeting and identification of those that have erred took three full months of diligent search.
*"And they made an end with all the men that had taken strange wives by the first day of the first month"*.
b. *"Judgement must begin at the house of God"*. It was discovered that the priests were also complicit. *"And among the sons of the priests there were found that had taken strange wives"*. Leaders sins are leading sins. A congregation, community or family whose leaders lead honest lives will reflect in the people that are led and will manifest in their attitudes towards questionable moral behaviour of their people. Leaders must not only lead a holy life, but must also encourage and enforce righteousness in their domain. This was what Ezra did and he did it to please God. In this age of permissiveness, this should be taken seriously. Eli did not enforce the truth he believed and his end was terrible.
*Question*
Do you have any sin that you have not repented from? Why not repent now?
*2. The Separation and the Restitution*
a. Those who made marriages with the pagan women were asked to them away. So Israel understood the commandment of not marrying pagan women were to be on the basis of their faith and not on the basis of nationality or race. *"And they gave their hands that they would put away their wives; and being guilty, they offered a ram of the flock for their trespass"*. The offering of a ram was for forgiveness and this was not sufficient until they made a true separation from the object of divine anger. They sacrificed ram for sin offering because it was a sin committed with knowledge of the truth otherwise it would have to be a goat. The sin did not only involve the priests' sons and the leaders in Israel. As should be expected, the common man with the Levites also joined in the sin. *"Also of the Levites...Of the singers also...Moreover of Israel"*.
b. There was also a heathen king that was asked to make restitution concerning wrong marriage. The case was Abimelech the king of Gerar who took Sarah, the wife of Abraham and God commanded that to *"restore the man his wife...and if thou restore her not, know thou that thou shalt surely die, thou and all that are thine"*. He also had to sacrifice for his sin as God counted it to be sin (Genesis 20:6-12). That even happened before the law. For further reading see, Exodus 22:1-14, Leviticus 6:2-5, Numbers 5:6-7, 2 Samuel 12:6, Ezekiel 33:15-16. The teaching of Restitution is a moral and not ceremonial law and therefore, is still valid in principle in the New Testament.
*Question*
Do you still have any restitution pending? Where do you see restitution practiced in the New Testament?

*Timeless Truth:*_"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land"_ (2 Chronicles 7:14).
*INTRODUCTION*
Repentance is beyond a mental accent to change from doing wrong or sinning against God. There are clear responsibilities that go with true repentance otherwise it would be fake or spurious. One of such is mourning for the sin. A truly repentant person would not be laughing at sin or else he will not receive assurance of forgiveness. Jesus said, *"Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted"*. Inseparable from Repentance is Restitution. There are some wrongs or sins that God expects a definite action of correcting and paying back where needed. You cannot steal an apple and still be enjoying the sweetness of the apple and still claim to have repented from stealing. There must be restitution for the repentance to be complete. Apology to the offended, confession and restoration of things stolen and correcting a false information given as true are part of restitution. One of the areas where restitution is very important is in the area of marriage. The text shows how the returnee Jews from captivity had to make restitution to prove the genuineness of their repentance.

*MESSAGE:*
In 2016, the world witnessed an event that stunned global intellectual and political circles: the unexpected outcome of the US presidential election. Pundits, pollsters, and seasoned analysts had confidently predicted one result, only for reality to overturn their calculations. The shock exposed a truth often overlooked by the world’s elite: even the sharpest minds can misjudge the forces at play.
A similar moment unfolds in our passage. The Pharisees – religious scholars, legal experts, and the intellectual elite of their time – had spent the day challenging Jesus with intricate theological and legal traps. Yet, with a single question, Christ dismantled their assumptions, exposing the limits of their understanding. The question He asked was not merely an intellectual puzzle but a revelation of divine mystery “What think ye of Christ? Whose son is he?” They responded with certainty: “The son of David.” It was the expected answer, drawn from prophetic Scriptures. But Jesus pressed further: “How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool?”
The logic was inescapable. If the Messiah was merely David’s son, why did David himself call Him Lord? The Pharisees, men trained in theological argumentation, were left speechless. The passage concludes with a striking statement: “And no man was able to answer him a word, neither durst any man from that day forth ask him any more questions.” Christ’s question shattered their limited framework. They had confined the Messiah to human lineage and earthly rule, but Jesus revealed a greater reality: He was not just David’s descendant but David’s Lord.
Everybody from all occupations – academics, policy makers, thought leaders, and influencers – must answer this question at some point in their lives. In an age where human intelligence and expertise are exalted above any other consideration, we must confront an uncomfortable truth: knowledge alone does not lead to ultimate wisdom. Today, scholars no doubt dissect theology, leaders shape nations, and innovators push boundaries; yet, without Christ, all wisdom is vain. The question remains relevant: What think ye of Christ? Is He just a historical figure, a moral teacher, or the Lord of all, including your own Lord and Saviour? The response is all yours to give.
*THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The best of earthly wisdom is far from being a match for divine wisdom.*

*MESSAGE:*
Have you ever thought of why the kite does not prey on ducklings but does not spare chicks? It is believed that when the kite picked a chick, the mother hen flared up, flew up, cackled very loudly and put up a vain resistance. When a similar fate befell the duckling, mother duck kept her cool and walked away. The kite was most uncomfortable with that posture - it would not predict what would follow! As for the hen, it had revealed the limit of its strength, and there lay its weakness - mere noise!
Similarly, the weakness of some professing Christians is in their strength - mere noise! Some "Christians" in our text were such - "unruly and vain talkers and deceivers." They were so loud-mouthed that an effort had to be made to stop them and bring them to a sound faith. Otherwise, by all means, they would subvert Christian families. Their practice was poles apart from their profession. They were full of religious profession but destitute of good works, and were motivated by selfish interests.
Today, mere professors of religion abound. They are often known by their loudness and fluency in argument and in defence of their faulty positions. They profess knowledge of God, yet, like the tree cursed by Christ, they are full of leaves but have no fruit. In character and conduct, they lack the vital fruits of grace and genuine Christian conviction. Disobedience, self-will, insubordination, selfish ambitions and lusts have connived to defile their conscience. Yet they relent not in their effort to deceive and defile other believers.
An empty profession serves no good purpose. Rather, it ends in eternal disappointment and damnation. As professing Christians, we must ensure that our profession has substance and is rooted in the saving faith in Christ Jesus and true piety.
